Course Overview
This course will introduce students to CA 1, the Tape Management System (TMS) from CA Inc. The purpose of CA 1 is explained, and its major functions are reviewed.
A series of written and lab exercises are used to reinforce the classroom lecture.
What you’ll learn
During the CA 1 for JCL Users course, students will learn:
- The special CA 1 tape EXPDT/RETPD criteria.
- CA 1 operations.
- Online facilities for Tape Management Catalog (TMC) inquiry and update.
- The meaning of IBM and CA 1 tape related ABEND codes and methods of resolution.
Requirements
- Basic MVS JCL, or equivalent experience.
Target audiences
- Application programmers, computer operators, tape librarians, or any other individuals that will write JCL and create tape datasets in an MVS/CA 1 environment.
